It was the life long dream of Cheri Trousil, a physical therapist, to offer the excitement of the outdoors as an integral part of a therapy program to nurture and encourage physically challenged children toward a healthier life style. The opportunity to make Cheri's dream come true arose in 1999 when Ed Trousil, Cheri's husband, organized a highly sophisticated collaboration effort with the Colorado Department of Wildlife, Colorado State Parks and the City of Steamboat Spring to purchase the 4,000-acre working ranch, Yampa Valley Land & Cattle Company of Steamboat Springs. As a result of this successful collaboration 1,800 acres of this beautiful Steamboat Springs South Valley land became the Trousils Humble Ranch and Cheri's dream became a reality. | ||||

What happens at the ranch on any given day during the summer is what makes us so unique. Clients can ride a horse, play in the barn, swing in a hammock, catch frogs in the pond , or feed the llamas . These are some of the activities taking place while a physical, speech or occupational therapist works with the client on individual treatment goals. It is here that we see the miracle of the animal/human connections unfold and witness the many therapeutic benefits of such a relationship. |
